Downtown Drifts: Our Favorite Fort Worth Ride Rituals
It all started with a simple coffee run.
After growing up in the suburbs of Fort Worth, I moved downtown a couple of years ago and completely fell in love with the scene—walkable streets, cool local spots, and just the right mix of energy and charm. But quickly, I realized getting around wasn’t always easy… especially when it came to driving, trying to find parking, and paying a fortune to do it.
The electric scooter idea started with my brother and cousin, who live in the same downtown apartment complex as my roommate and me. They were the early adopters—riding to coffee shops, restaurants, and even just cruising around for fun. It didn’t take long before we were convinced. So, I bought an electric scooter.
Now? Scooting has become a regular part of our lifestyle—and honestly, one of the most fun and freeing ways to experience Fort Worth.
Why We Ride (and Why You Should Too)
Downtown Fort Worth is made for riding. The streets are mostly flat, the traffic isn’t overwhelming, and you’re constantly passing cool patios, shops, and hidden gems.
What used to be a long, frustrating drive is now a 5-minute zip through the city. And the best part? You feel the city as you move through it—the smells from the restaurants, murals you never noticed before, people playing live music on the square.
It’s like being apart of a little story in motion.

Our Go-To Downtown Route
We usually kick things off at Hogan’s Alley, a charming new coffee shop tucked away in downtown. I always go for the Chisholm Trail Cold Brew—smooth, strong, and just how I like it. If I’m treating myself, the almond crescent is a must.
They’ll even fill your personal thermos if you're heading out—which is perfect for riding. Later in the day, you can swing back for an espresso martini or something off their drink menu.
From there, we hit the heart of downtown:
Mid-Ride Favorites:
• Cruising through Sundance Square
• Looping around the Water Gardens
• Browsing at Barber’s {used} Book Store
• Detouring to Trinity Trails when it’s sunnyEnd Stop: Flying Saucer
We usually wrap up at Flying Saucer, our go-to hangout. With a massive beer list, great food (get the Turkey Meltdown or Paco Bowl), and a relaxed patio scene, it’s the perfect way to end a ride.
There’s live music in the evenings on the weekends and the vibe is just right—like your neighborhood bar but with way better views.
💡 Tips for a Smooth Ride
• Check your brakes before heading out
• Follow traffic signals and direction
• Stick to low-traffic streets
• Ride during golden hour
• Wear sunglasses (sun + bugs = nope)
• Keep your gear light and hands free

🛴 Ready to Ride?
Scooting through Fort Worth has completely changed the way I experience the city. It’s fun, practical, and honestly one of the best little joys in my week—whether I’m grabbing coffee, riding at sunset, or heading to a patio for drinks.
If you’ve been thinking about getting a scooter or bike for city life, I can’t recommend it enough.
It’s the wildest (chillest) thing you didn’t know you needed.
