7 Free (or Almost Free) Things To Do in Fort Worth This Weekend
Budget-friendly ideas for Memorial Day or any weekend
Looking for something fun to do in Fort Worth without spending a lot? These are my go-to spots that are free or under $10. Whether you're spending the weekend with friends or just want to get outside, these ideas are easy, low-cost, and actually enjoyable.
1. Walk or Ride the Trinity Trails
Over 100 miles of paths for walking, biking, or scootering. The section near Press Cafe is a favorite. It’s flat, quiet, and easy to access. I like to go early or late at night before it’s not too hot.
2. Visit the Kimbell Art Museum
Admission to the permanent collection is always free. It’s quiet, indoors, and the art is worth seeing. If you want to take a break, there’s a small cafe and lots of shaded seating outside.
3. Explore the Free Areas of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden
Not all of the garden is ticketed. You can walk through the open areas near the front entrance for free. It’s a great spot to bring a coffee, take a walk, or read outside.
4. Coffee Shop Hop for Under $10
A budget-friendly way to explore the city and try new places. These are my current favorites:
Hogan’s Alley – Local favorite for cold brew and seasonal drinks
Pax & Beneficia – Grab your drink and walk over to Sundance Square
Buon Giorno Coffee – Great spot for a quiet morning or afternoon reset
Bring a friend or take your time solo. No pressure to stay long or spend more than a few dollars.
5. Pack a Picnic at Trinity Park
Pick a shaded spot and bring what you have at home. A simple combo of fruit, cheese, crackers, and sparkling water works. I like to keep snacks and a blanket in the car just in case.
6. Watch the Sunset from the West 7th Bridge
It’s one of the best views in the city and completely free. You can park nearby and walk up for a quiet spot to end the day. If you're already near the Trinity Trails, it’s easy to add this in.
7. Look for Free Events Around Fort Worth
You don’t need to dig too deep to find something happening for free. Check these local sites:
